Bert and Ernie from Sesame Street Speak out against Gay Marriage Petition

After gay marriage was legalized in New York, an online petition calling for Bert and Ernie from Sesame Street to get married was started.  This came as quite a shock to both the puppets because they didn’t even realize they were gay.

“We should have known that’s what people thought of us when we were invited to make a guest appearance on Glee,” Ernie said to Bert after he heard about the petition.

“I’m glad we didn’t accept Logo’s idea for a reality show,” Bert agreed.  “Why do people think we’re gay?  We have separate beds!”

Once Ernie started to think about things though, he got confused and began to wonder about his orientation.

“Bert, since we’re puppets,” Ernie said, “how do you know you’re not gay?”

Bert grimaced.  “Because I hate it when that big guy who makes us talk sticks his hand up my backside.”
